You choose which shoes you want to wear today. You choose whether you go to the gym today. You choose which job you’ll apply for and hopefully which job you’ll have the opportunity to accept. You choose who you spend your time with. You choose how to use your time.
About the only choice you don’t have is being born in the first place.
Some choices have little consequence while others can change your entire life. Making a single choice may mean you’re making a succession of other choices down the road. Or not as the case may be.
Some choices are easy. Some choices are not.
Some choices you make consciously. Some choices you make unconsciously.
You choose whether you find value in something. You choose whether you like something. You choose if something just isn’t for you.
You choose if you smile. You choose if you’re happy. You choose if you’re going to let other people bring you down. You choose whether it’s going to be a great day.
You choose what you do.
You choose what you say.
You choose what you think.
It’s up to you if you choose to take responsibility for your life. It’s up to you to choose to change. Or even to believe you need to change. It’s up to you to choose to take responsibility for achieving your dreams.
You choose if you let yourself be stressed. It’s up to you if you choose to let your job get on top of you or get you down. It’s up to you if you choose to say yes to one project too many. It’s up to you to choose if you want to give up yet another weekend to work.
It’s up to you if you choose to yell at your partner. It’s up to you if you want to ignore them. It’s up to you if you want to apologize and take responsibility for being unreasonable. It’s up to you to choose how much you show you love them.
It’s up to you to choose how you communicate. It’s your choice to make an effort to make sure someone understands. It’s your choice to intentionally drop the ball and let them misunderstand on purpose. It’s your choice to try again.
It’s your choice to embrace choice. It’s your choice not to fear choice and instead to grab opportunities.
It’s your choice to appreciate the possibilities of change. It’s your choice to prioritize tasks. It’s your choice to make time.
Other people may choose not to like your choices. Especially if your choice was something they’re not comfortable with or they’re not included in. Or perhaps it was a different choice to the one you’ve made many times before. But it was still your choice.
It’s your choice to become aware of the choices you make….
